JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-shaping Optimization)

Jitter is a major cause of distortion in digital systems, and is caused by mis-timing in the master clocks used in digital-to-analogue conversion. To eliminate the degradation of sound caused by jitter, Technics has developed an original jitter reduction circuit, comprising a clock generator in the noise-shaping system to reduce jitter in the low-frequency range and a high-precision sample rate converter for suppressing jitter in the high-frequency range. Thus it reduces jitter in an ideal way over the entire frequency range. This works with a newly-developed and original high-precision PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) conversion circuit, optimising the noise-shaping speed, the degree and requantisation error, and the PWM gradation, in order to convert high-resolution signals to PWM without causing any damage to the dynamic range. These new technologies enable the new generation of Technics digital amplifier designs to reproduce the natural and delicate nuances of music.

GaN-FET Driver (High Speed and Low Impedance Power devices)

In the power output section of the amplifier, Technics has employed a high-speed GaN (gallium nitride) FET driver device with super-low resistance. This enables the construction of a high-power amp using a single push-pull configuration, allowing the length of the large current carrying signal path to be shortened, and resulting in outstanding linearity regardless of the sound level.

LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration)

The impedance of a speaker is not constant: it varies according to frequency, thus altering the loading on the amplifier and therefore potentially the sound. Technics is able to measure an amplifier's frequency amplitude-phase characteristics with speakers connected, and has developed a speaker impedance adaptive optimisation algorithm. Using digital signal processing to achieve the ideal impulse response. Correction processing based on the new algorithm achieves a flat frequency response for both amplitude and phase, which is not possible with a conventional amplifier. Delivering a sound with a rich spatial expression.

High-speed Silent Hybrid Power Supply

With a conventional switch mode power supply, the switching frequency changes in response to the load fluctuation in order to control the switching ON time for stabilising the output voltage. This fluctuation component in the switching frequency has a negative impact on sound quality. The newly developed power supply reduces the noise component harmful to sound quality by fixing the switching frequency. In addition, the latter stage in the switching power supply is provided with a linear regulator to stabilise the output voltage. The linear regulator uses custom, high-definition electrolytic capacitors. What's more, the resonance power supply decreases the level of switching noise, and the PFC (Power Factor Correction) reduces primary current peaks and higher harmonics. The parts used for absorbing noise, such as capacitors, were carefully selected. All possible measures were taken to achieve low noise and reproduce clear sound.


Battery Driven Clock Generator

The best power supply for delicate circuitry such as the clock generator in the new amplifiers is one entirely isolated from any noise or fluctuations in the mains supply. Technics has extensive experience in circuits using battery isolation, having used them to create ultra-low-noise pre-amplifier stages in past analogue amplifiers.

Digital Noise Isolation Architecture

The SU-G30 Network Audio Amplifier receives audio signals from various digital content devices, such as NAS, PCs, USB memory devices, and other digital inputs. Many of these digital content storage systems were originally designed for use with PCs, so low noise – which is required for pure audio reproduction – was never a main design concern. To handle these often noisy sources, the SU-G30 isolates the interfaces for these media to exclude external electrical interference, and also employs a jitter remover, thus offering clear and stable sound, free from noise and distortion.

Ultra Low Distortion Oversampling Digital Filter

An oversampling digital filter, incorporating an original Technics algorithm, shifts digital noise to -160 dB or lower, thus moving any potential distortion far beyond hearing and leaving a rich, detailed sound.

High Res Re-master – enhanced for compressed audio

Technics has developed signal processing to increase both sampling frequency and bit depth: the High Res Re-master system converts audio signals to high resolution at up to 192 kHz/32 bits, to bring the listener closer to the original music.
Sound sources that have been compressed based on the audibility threshold and masking effect of human auditory phenomena. Lack the data necessary to reproduce expansive high-frequency sound, as well as detailed and powerful low frequencies. Because the frequency range is reduced and low level signals are omitted. To solve this problem, Technics has developed High Res Re-master using an original algorithm. As a result, the SU-G30 lets you enjoy natural, expressive and rich sound rivalling that of high-res audio.


Wi-Fi Capability

You can connect the SU-G30 to a network via a home LAN system using a cable or with a wireless configuration (IEEE802.11a/b/g/n). The built-in Wi-Fi function lets you easily connect to a network without using a LAN cable even if your PC or broadband router is set up in another room.


Bluetooth® Capability

The SU-G30 is also equipped with a Bluetooth® function that supports aptX® and AAC. This lets you stream music easily from a Bluetooth®-ready device.

MQA

This unit includes the MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology, which enables playback of MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording.

TIDAL, Spotify and vTuner Supported

Music Server ST-G30

Hi-Fi music server engineered to deliver high-quality sound and a premium user experience for network audio.

Bit-Perfect Ripping

During CD ripping, if there are uncorrectable errors due to marks or scratches on the CD, ST-G30 determines the size of the error, performs a read retry in an attempt to read the correct data. If the retry still results in an error, the ST-G30 notifies the listener with an alert.

Low Noise USB Transfer

In the case of music data streamed over a network, the decoding process performed by the player and the fluctuation of voltage caused by the packet processing load, etc., can cause jitter. The ST-G30 can connect to a USB-DAC device via the USB output and perform the decoding process, thus reducing the processing load in the player and achieving data transmission with minimal jitter.

Separate and Stable Power Supply

The power supply output is divided into three feeds, one each for the SSD drive data block, USB-Audio output block, and control and display block, to lower the mutual noise effect among blocks. A large capacitor array is used for the SSD drive block, which requires a power supply capability with high tracking performance for peak current. The USB-Audio output block, which demands a clean power supply, is equipped with a stabilised circuit and large-capacity electrolytic capacitors.

Digital Noise Isolation Architecture

Each digital interface line is isolated. In addition to separating the power supply for the import/backup USB, LAN, and SSD, a power conditioner is provided for each. This reduces the effect of noise generated mutually from the other blocks. A common mode filter and large-capacity pulse transformer are also used for the LAN, to decrease the effect of external noise.


Optimally Activated Circuit System

Networks, USB devices and drives can be sources of noise and degrade sound quality during playback. The ST-G30 controls the SoC operation according to the mode and reduces the CPU load to minimise noise generated inside the device during playback to enhance the sound purity.


Custom-made, Anti-vibration SSD

An SSD with no moving parts, hence no vibration or operating noise, has been specially developed for the ST-G30. SSDs developed for ordinary PC applications often prioritise light weight rather than considering vibration resistance. The SSD developed for the ST-G30 provides a damper inside the aluminium case for vibration reduction. The SSD case is also strengthened to reproduce sounds with the highest accuracy. In addition by making the SSD removable, it can be easily upgraded in the future.

Constructions
Rigidly-Mounted Sheltered Drive

The optical drive, which generates rather large rotational vibration during operation, is enclosed in a silent drive shelter to achieve quiet operation, and its drive base is rigidly mounted at the centre of the casing to suppress vibration and noise.
High Rigidity Metal Double Chassis

The High-Rigidity Metal Double Chassis features a steel-plate inner chassis and a steel-plate outer chassis to reduce vibration and noise that degrade the purity of the sound. To support heavy parts and components and lower the centre of gravity for improved stability, the inner chassis is made of a 1.2-mm-thick plate. The bottom surface of the cabinet is a 2-mm-thick steel plate. This improves the vibration damping performance and achieves a low centre of gravity. The front panel is made of a 7-mm-thick aluminium plate, while the side panels are 2-mm-thick aluminium plates to resist the effects of electromagnetic noise.
This not only achieves an elegant appearance, but also enhances the cabinet vibration damping effect and ensures firm support of the chassis for increased rigidity.
Cast Iron Insulator

The insulator is made of cast iron with high rigidity and an excellent damping property. It significantly reduces extraneous vibrations and external transmission of vibrations.

DiXiM Media Server Software Customised for Audio Use

DiXiM Media Server software has a long history in providing media server software. It has been customised for audio use. In addition to being able to search by artist and album you can quickly and easily go to the track you want. The software features a wide range of navigation features, such as codecs, recently added tracks, recently played tracks, and most-played tracks. It also displays album art on the app without any restrictions on resolution.
Choose the Ripping Format and Level That You Like

Choose either uncompressed WAV or lossless compression FLAC format for your CD ripping. FLAC even lets you choose the compression level (0-8). Adding tag information to ripped WAV format files is also supported.
11.2-MHz DSD and Other High-res Formats Supported

In addition to high-res formats like WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and ALAC, DSD distribution is supported. For USB-Audio output, formats go up to 384-kHz/32-bit PCM and 11.2-MHz DSD.
