SET OF 4 WITH M6, M8 and ¼-20 POSTS FOR SPEAKERS OR EUIPMENT
With our expert team of sound and vibration specialists we set out to redefine a component that is very important but often overlooked – the damping foot.
We have analysed the vibration patterns of various audio equipment including loudspeakers, amplifiers and turntables, and evaluated the effectiveness of different vibration control strategies. To our surprise the best strategy turned out to be one that is not usually used in audio but is rather found in civil engineering. For the vibration control of heavy structures such as bridges, civil engineers make use of so-called pot bearings. This typeof bearing is very compact and provides efficient damping through compressionof a confined elastomeric disc whilst allowing displacement in the horizontal plane. This strategy is particularly interesting for audio applications because, as our research has shown, the best approach to deal with vibrations is not by trying to fix the components rigidly in place but rather allowing limited movement in all directions. By damping this motion through dedicated measures the vibration can then be effectively controlled to significantly reduce unwanted distortion.
After countless prototypes, we have successfully adapted and refined the pot bearing concept to broad-band audio applications and implemented it in the RevOpod damper. It is the first product to feature our proprietary vibration control system offering superb damping performance.
All structural parts of the RevOpod damper are precision CNC machined from highest quality stainless steel while the contact element to the floor is madeout of Delrin®. For perfect levelling RevOpod features a unique height controlling mechanism that offers a precise adjustment in 50µm steps. By rotating the outer ring, an inner element starts to move up or down translating the rotary motionof the ring into linear movement of the inner cylinder.

"What the RevOpods bring to both the Simaudio Moon amps and the other somewhat reasonably priced electronics that I tried them with, like the Jeff Rowland 625 II amp and the CEC TL-2N transport, is a sense of calm clarity that, far from slowing the music or muting its impact, gets the right amount of musical energy traveling in the right direction at the right time, delivering the band’s intent and the recording’s and system’s potential -- and that’s a point worth underlining. In each case where I employed the RevOpods, the signal chain remained unchanged. In other words, all the footers were doing was delivering the latent potential contained in those expensive electronics we all spend so much money on and time worrying about.
Of course, the RevOpods are far from unique in this regard, and I’ve long relied on the already mentioned HRS Nimbus footers and Nordost SortKones to do the same job -- albeit each in its own fashion. But three things set the RevOpods apart: their low stack height, that fabulous leveling facility and the easy order they bring to music, along with the subtlety with which they reveal tonal color and harmonics. The SortKones are more dynamic and musically emphatic, the Nimbus more stable and even more dimensionally explicit, but the RevOpods’ balance of virtues, and the overall musical coherence that results, moves them to the head of the list where footers are concerned. That doesn’t make them the best option in every case, but where they can be firmly attached to the unit in question (and there’s a wide range of adapters available) it definitely makes them first up to try."
